Grammar

-지요/-죠 (proposition)

suggest a shared action

Form

Verb + -지요/-죠. With an action verb and proposal intonation, the ending can mean “let’s… / why don’t we…”.

Function

-죠 is not limited to confirmation. In 일단 나가 보죠, Taehyung proposes a shared action: “Let’s go out and see first.”

Why this form?

-(으)ㄹ까요? — “shall we…?”: more genuinely asks for the other person’s opinion or agreement; -죠 more readily presents the action as the logical thing to do together.
-(으)ㅂ시다 — “let’s…”: an explicit proposal, more formal and often more directive; -죠 is more conversational and flexible.

Uses

The same -죠 ending can also confirm known information or ask a friendly question. Here, its combination with 나가 보다 and the shared-action context gives it the proposal reading.

Forms not to confuse

-(으)ㄹ까요?
이제 나가 볼까요? — Shall we go out and take a look now?

-(으)ㅂ시다
이제 밖으로 나갑시다. — Let’s go outside now.

Examples

일단 나가 보죠. — Let’s go out and see first.
시간이 늦었으니 우리도 돌아가죠. — It’s getting late, so let’s head back too.
