Grammar

한번 + V-아/어 보다 + -(으)ㄹ게요

announce that one will try doing something

Form

한번 + verb in -아/어 보다 + -(으)ㄹ게요. Here: 한번 + 맞혀 보다 + -ㄹ게요 → 한번 맞혀 볼게요.

Function

This is not a fixed expression. 한번 makes the attempt light, -아/어 보다 marks trying, and -(으)ㄹ게요 announces an action the speaker commits to while taking the listener into account: “I’ll try to guess.”

Why this form?

한번 맞혀 볼까요? — “shall I try to guess? / would you like me to try?”: more directly asks for the listener’s agreement; -볼게요 announces the speaker’s decision to try.
한번 맞혀 보겠습니다 — “I will try to guess”: conveys the same attempt but in a more formal and distant register.
맞힐게요 — “I’ll guess it / get the answer right”: announces the action without the tentative experimental nuance of -아/어 보다.

How to build it

맞히다 → 맞혀 보다 “try to guess correctly” → 맞혀 볼게요 “I’ll try to guess.” 한번 does not always mean “one time”; it can soften an attempt or invitation.
